As discussed on the Lucky Mojo Hoodoo Rootwork Hour on May 20, 2018 -- with co-hosts catherine yronwode and ConjureMan Ali, announcer Papa Newt, and special guest WIlliam Stickevers -- the path of Uranus through Taurus often brings about conditions of financial chaos.

Because astrology is a dense subject and a lot of information is going to fly by very quickly, i have prepared some supplementary data here on this page. Please read this page first.

Contents

The Uranus Cycle

Uranus was discovered by Sir William Herschel in 1781. Uranium, discovered in 1789, was named in its honour.

It is unlike the other planets in the Solar System. It has 27 moons and 13 rings, and instead of spinning on its axis like the other planets, it rolls along in its orbit.

Uranus has an 84 year cycle. That means it takes 84 years to circle the Sun and it spends about 7 years in each sign of the zodiac.

Uranus: Eccentricity, Technology, Accidents, and Sudden Changes

Uranus rules the sign Aquarius. Its symbolical colours are glittery, sparkly, and changeable. It favours clear stones with odd inclusions, such as Rutilated Quartz and Moss Agate, and also technologically-enhanced stones, like irradiated Blue Topaz. The wearable metal associated with Uranus is platinum.

Symbolically, Uranus is a bizarre planet that signals originality, eccentricity, and creativity. It brings about rapid technical advances, especially in electronics. It promotes high ideals, social cooperation, and the formation of alliances (both for good and for ill). Above all, it is a planet associated with sudden changes. These can take the form of unexpected strokes or good luck -- or, when Uranus is badly placed, with unpredicted accidents.

Because Uranus has an 84 year cycle, the halfway point in that cycle for you occurs when you are 42 years old, and that mid-point is sometimes said to mark a "new start in life" or, conversely, a "mid-life crisis."

When Uranus returns to its natal position on your chart, you will be 84 years old. It was commonplace when i was young for old-time astrologers to warn that, "Eighty-four years old means it's time to watch out for accidents. Be careful you don't fall and break your hip."

Taurus: The Earth and Its Riches

Taurus is a sign noted for its stability. On a global, impersonal scale, it is a fixed Earth sign allied to concepts such as husbanding the natural wealth and resources of the land.

Taurus is ruled by the planet Venus and is associated with the metal copper; some minerals associated with it are Green Jade, Carnelian, Pyrite, Quartz, Emerald, and Beryl.

The sign Taurus inlines one to value jewelry, precious gems, art as a commodity, and fine clothing. It rules not only forestry, farming, businesses, and property management, but also the banking system, and capital financing. It promotes cautious growth and fiscal responsibility, favouring property ownership over monetary or commodity speculation.

Uranus Enters Taurus: The Result

The unpredictable planet Uranus is incompatible with the ultra-fixed sign Taurus. In fact, Uranus is said to be in its "fall" or worst position possible, when in Taurus.

New Uranian technological advances occur independently of the sign that Uranus occupies, but when Uranus is in Taurus, these advances are often delayed in their effect. Worse, they may be temporarily side-tracked or wasted, as natural resources may be exploited or even intentionally misused to make weapons of war or to promote other sudden rearrangements of land-ownership. The destruction of natural resources through accidents can also be predicted.

Wars are always a feature of global history, but during the cycles of Uranus in Taurus, wars take on a particularly nasty financial aspect, as people are stripped of property rights and may lose their previous connections to the land and thus to food sources.

Financial ups and downs always occur, but with Uranus in Taurus, new banking technologies may bring about a crisis and attempts to stabilize the banking system may not succeed well until Uranus moves on into Gemini.

Key Thoughts for Uranus in Taurus

Because Uranus in Taurus is inherently a negative position, let's look at the possible downsides first, and follow with some optimistic possibilities.

Negative Possibilities

  • Financial upheavals: fiat currency manipulation and failure; interest rates change quickly, sudden banking crisis.
  • Food supplies diminish: economic or military warfare leads to bottlenecking of food supplies, trouble with technologically altered foods, loss of agricultural lands.
  • Land ownership in crisis: appropriation of public lands, possible incursions and invasions to control lands, borders change suddenly, wholesale accidental destruction of natural resources.
  • Technological adjustments: mass layoffs as AI robots rapidly replace unskilled and semi-skilled retail, factory, agricultural, and warehouse workers.

Positive Possibilities

  • Banking technological revolution: cryptocurrency advances, online banking expands; changes fully effected when Uranus enters Gemini.
  • Innovative food solutions: community gardens, hydroponics, "instant" foods, AI robot packing and drone shipping of food.
  • Land ownership changes: cooperative living, creative downsizing, portable housing, innovative materials, time-shared spaces.
  • Technological advances: increased automation, AI robot technologies develop rapidly, affordable clean and renewable energy.

2018 - 2026, the Current Uranus in Taurus Cycle

Uranus moves forward, then goes retrograde, then forward again. Because Uranus is slow-moving, these retrogrades generally take the form of a little "wiggle-dance" as seen from Earth -- forward into a new sign, backward to finish out the previous sign, then forward again for a longer period of time in the new sign.

  • May 15, 2018 - Uranus enters Taurus. "The shot across the Taurus bows."
  • November 6, 2018 - Uranus Retrograde, back into Aries. " Aries Clean-Up."
  • March 7, 2019 - Uranus Direct, Re-Enters Taurus. "The Seven-Year Taurus Show is On."
  • July 7, 2025 - Uranus enters Gemini "The shot across the Gemini bows"
  • November 7, 2025 - Uranus Retrograde, back into Taurus. "Taurus Clean-Up."
  • April 23, 2026 - Uranus Direct, Re-Enters Gemini. "The Seven-Year Gemini Show is On."

2018 - 2026 URANUS IN TAURUS

Removing the Uranian forward-and-backward "wiggle-dance" episodes, we are looking at THREE periods of time in which Uranus is in Taurus:

  • May 15, 2018 - November 6, 2018 - The warm-up and first pass
  • March 7, 2019 - July 7, 2025 - The long run of instability
  • November 7, 2025 - April 23, 2026 - The clean-up of loose ends

Uranus in Taurus in History

In order to estimate what a Uranus in Taurus cycle may bring us on a global scale (because we cannot work out the positions of Uranus in regard to every one of your own natal planets on a show like this), we can look back to the previous two Uranus in Taurus cycles and see what was going on in the world.

Here are summaries of world events during the two previous times Uranus was in Taurus, for comparison with one another and as a guide to what we may expect this time:
