This post-World War Two cartomancy cup and sandwich plate saucer combination bears an unknown Flying Bird maker's mark and is also marked Made in Japan. It does not have iron-red alphanumeric backstamps like the Japanese Ucagco and Ardalt-Lenwile imports do, but the gilded backstamp style is reminiscent of the unknown Japan Crossed Laurel Leaves maker and the lavender glaze, ripped surfaces, and heavy gilding are similar to that used by the unknown Japan H-B maker. The six-petal lotus foot on the cup is a common style shared by many Japanese potteries.
